Florida Panthers Take 1-0 Lead in Stanley Cup Finals

Edmonton Oilers Face Uphill Battle

Game 2 Set for Monday

The Florida Panthers have taken a 1-0 lead in the 2024 Stanley Cup Finals after a 3-0 shutout victory over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 1. The Panthers dominated the game from start to finish, outshooting the Oilers 35-22 and controlling the puck for the majority of the contest.

The Oilers had a golden opportunity to take an early lead in the game when they were awarded a power play just three minutes into the first period. However, the Panthers' penalty kill unit was up to the task, and the Oilers were unable to capitalize on the opportunity. The Panthers then took the lead later in the period when Sam Reinhart scored a power-play goal of his own.

The Panthers added to their lead in the second period with a goal from Aleksander Barkov. The Oilers had a few chances to get back into the game in the third period, but they were unable to solve Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky. Bobrovsky finished the game with 22 saves for his second shutout of the playoffs.

The Oilers will now need to win Game 2 on Monday night in order to tie the series. However, the Panthers will be confident heading into the game after their impressive performance in Game 1. The Panthers are now 11-3 in their past 14 games, and they will be looking to continue their strong play in Game 2.
